Twittermoms Rambo Alert: “The Allstate Foundation and TwitterMoms have teamed up to raise awareness of domestic violence, and we need your help. By participating in this blogging program, you’re joining the Tell a Gal Pal movement, which calls on everyone to talk openly about domestic violence and support those in need.”

I didn’t have to read any further before deciding to support the movement!  My first husband was a true looser. In addition, he did not hesitate to throw a punch when he was angry. Of course, I would never simply stand there and let it happen. There where numerous “close calls” and the one time he connected, I retaliated. A fist fight ensued and he walked away with as many wounds as I. Being young and dumb I believed that moving to a new state would cure him. I blamed “his friends” for his behavior and believed he would change, NOT! I left him after five years, remarried some time later and have been married for 23 years now. My husband is great man, who would NEVER think to abuse anyone, much less a woman.

Domestic violence touches millions – more than seven out of 10 Americans know someone who is or has been a victim – but somehow it still remains a taboo subject.

About The Allstate Foundation’s Domestic Violence Program

The Allstate Foundation’s Domestic Violence Program was created to help domestic violence survivors overcome economic challenges and lead financially independent lives, free from abuse. Through a partnership with the National Network to End Domestic Violence, the program provides a network of financial resources, including a comprehensive financial empowerment curriculum; funds direct services, including education and job training assistance; and spread the word on how to empower those touched by domestic and economic abuse. For more information and to find out how to help, visit www.ClickToEmpower.org.

Please spread the word by visiting the the Click To Empower! Facebook page and tweeting this message “Like” the “Click to Empower!” FB page and The Allstate Foundation will donate $1 to NNEDV (up to $20K) http://bit.ly/cGIxsO Please RT!

I participated in this program solely to raise awareness about domestic violence and to assist in ending these horrendous acts. I did not receive compensation for this post. Thanks to Twittermoms and Allstate for supporting this worthy cause!
