Having enjoyed an abundance of family vacations in Central Orlando over the last twenty years, I consider myself an authority on family vacations of the Kissimmee Saint Cloud area. Kissimmee is the perfect place to experience family adventures as well as a relaxing retreats or a blend of both!

Does your family enjoy water parks? Home to some of the steepest twisting hills, that jet you through tunnels and mazes, Aquatica, SeaWorld’s newest water park is a Kissimmee favorite. Disney’s provides loads of water fun offering two water theme parks. Blizzard Beach is the world’s only “ski resort” water park, being built around the 90 foot peak of Mount Gushmore. Typhoon Lagoon offers snorkeling with live sharks as well as a six foot surf pool. As if that weren’t enough water fun, the family can also spend a day a Wet n’ Wild. With more than 30 acres of fumes and water slides, many of the rides are multi-passenger capable and offer a chance to relax while taking in the views. Prices vary from park to park and you will find Wet n Wild to be the most economical for a one day visit.

There are literally hundreds of attractions to visit. Mammoth theme parks like Universal Studios and Disney offer multi parks with a whole host of admission deals. Why heck, you could spent a week at Disney and not even see all Disney has to offer. These world known attractions offer numerous vacation packages as well as muti-day and multi-park passes. Do you have family or friends in Florida? If you are a Florida resident, additional special discounts apply so you might want to check in with them before planning that Kissimmee vacation, I’m just sayin.

There are many free admission areas offered by both parks, which are perfect for a day excursions. Visit Downtown Disney, which offers unique Disney shops, play areas that include water spots for the kids, live music events, and exciting restaurants. The rain forest is an eatery that presents a true rain forest dining experience! Additionally, in the fall Downtown Disney® offers a complimentary open-air art festival, entitled Festival of the Masters.
Tight family budgets are no problem in Kissimmee. Many of the hotels offer discount rates, and rooms with fridges and microwaves. This is a huge opportunity to save money. Discounts on attractions and multi-day theme park passes are available in most hotel lobbies along with discount meal coupons. Travel outside of peak season and enjoy discounts on nearly everything.

Visit some of the most beautiful scenic parks Florida has to offer with no admission fees. The St. Cloud Lakefront Park, located along Lake Tohopekalig offers a bike path, walking path from Mississippi to Louisiana Avenue, playground, splash pad, picnic pavilions and picnic tables, a sand beach, volleyball court, a fishing pier and much more. If hiking is your family forte, Nature Conservancy’s Disney Wilderness Preserve is a 2,000 acre preserve offering hikers two options: A 4.5 mile loop along the shores of beautiful Lake Russell and a 2.5 mile loop through various ecosystems. The preserve is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m daily. To think, these are just two of many nature loving examples. How is that for a low budget adventure?

Does your family enjoy old time carnival rides, shopping, cars shows, and music? Free parking, free admission, live bands and car cruises, Old Town is a”must see” while vacationing in Kissimmee. Car cruises are featured on Saturday nights and include hot rods, classic cars, and antiques cars too. Live bands perform on the Main Stage every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday nights with free admission too! Every year my youngest son traveled to Old Town with his football team. This annual event included an exhibition football game and a weekend of fun. My son always looked forward Old Town and talked about it for weeks afterward.

Let me also mention a few of the other attractions that provide a huge bang for your buck. These include Fantasy of Flight, Wonderworks, Ripley’s Believe It or Not!®, Ripley’s Believe It or Not!®, Gatorland, and Dinosaur World. This list could go on forever you know.

There is one more activity that you definitely won’t want to miss and that is the dinner theaters. These range in price from $25.00 per adult to about $70.00. Capone’s is on the lower end of the dinner theater spectrum in terms of money but not fun let me tell you. This is an Italian Buffet dinner set in the time of gangster Al Capone. The show is great and often times you can snag a BOGO offer online. Other dinner theater shows include Sleuth’s Mystery Dinner Show, Arabian Knights complete with live horses, and Medieval times dinner and tournament to name a few.

To sum it up, Kissimmee has everything for the perfect family vacation. Do you think perhaps I was correct in calling myself an authority on Kissimmee vacations?

Is it not the perfect place for a family vacation regardless of your budget? Visit Kissimmee to plan your family dream vacation today, you won’t be disappointed!
